But Americans, at least for 25 years, have wanted to consume now and pay later, and this is represented in Congress. The Republicans cut taxes and spend, relying on the dollar to maintain its reserve status and by holding faith that cutting taxes will somehow pay for itself. Dems make promises and find the cohort of least resistance to rob. So in your Fourth Turning theory, you noted in a recnet interview we are maybe step 3 of 10 into Winter. I agree becuase i just can't see us getting off this silly borrow or tax & spend drug until we all feel real pain. It's not scientific but to me it's about re-setting or nature's forcing us to reconcile excesses. I took my teenagers to see IOUSA; too abstract for them to get jazzed about yet Concord and others have been warning us for years. America needs it's spoiled butte kicked.
